Begin in Shimla and drive through apple orchards, rugged terrains, and winding mountain passes. Discover iconic spots like Kalpa, Tabo, Pin Valley, Komik, Kibber, Chandratal Lake, and Rohtang Pass. With daily guided sightseeing, this cab journey promises cultural depth, natural wonders, and peaceful nights in local stays.
On arrival at Delhi Airport/Railway Station, meet and drive to Shimla. Shimla is set amidst the snow-capped Shivalik Mountains and offers stunning views of the Himalayas.

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your 9-10 hour drive covering 170 km to Sarahan. You’ll pass through scenic villages like Fagu, Theog, Matiana, Narkanda, and Rampur, with stops for comfort breaks. On the way, you’ll visit apple orchards and stop at Hattu Peak (3,400 meters / 11,154 feet) in Narkanda, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Central Himalayas and visit the traditional wooden-carved Goddess Kali temple atop the peak. You’ll also stop by a small lake en route to Hattu Peak.

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the famous Bhimakali Temple in Sarahan, a historical site once associated with human sacrifices about two centuries ago.
Continue the drive to Sangla (90 km / 4–5 hours). On arrival, check in at your hotel or fixed luxury tented accommodation.
After lunch, take a 1–2 hour walk through Kamru and Sangla villages. Visit beautifully carved old temples and Buddhist monasteries, and engage with the friendly locals of the valley.

After breakfast, drive to Chitkul, the last village on the Indian side of the Indo-Tibetan border. Walk slowly around this fairy-tale village, enjoy the stunning landscapes, and interact with locals.
Return to Sangla for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, relax in the mountain landscape or take a nature walk to nearby villages.
Later, drive to Kalpa (2–3 hrs). En route, stop at Recongpeo for a walk through the local market. Lunch at a local restaurant with options for Indian or Tibetan cuisine.
After reaching Kalpa (7 kms from Recongpeo), check in to the hotel. After some rest, take a walk to Kalpa and Roghi villages, known for pine forests, apricots, and apples. Enjoy the stunning view of Mt. Kinner Kailash (6000 metres), especially beautiful during sunrise.

After breakfast, descend from Kalpa to the Indo-Tibet Highway and drive along the Sutlej River up to Khab, the confluence of the Spiti and Sutlej rivers. Continue upstream along the Spiti River as the landscape transforms into barren mountains.
After an hour-long climb, reach Nako village (3800m). Visit the artificial lake, which is surrounded by pink blossoms during late spring.
Descend to the riverbed and continue driving upstream of Spiti, crossing villages like Chango, Shalkar, Sumdo, and Hurling before arriving at Tabo.
Explore Chos Khor Gompa, a 1020-year-old monastery known for its ornate thangka paintings and Buddhist pantheon-themed walls. Interact with monks to learn more about monastery life and thangka art.
Relax in the fields of Tabo or hike to the meditation caves once used by monks.

Proceed to Dhankar Gompa, built on a 300-meter-high spur overlooking the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers.
Explore Dhankar Monastery, once the capital of Spiti under the king’s rule. “Dhang” means cliff and “kar” means fort — the monastery is perched dramatically on the cliff’s edge. Built 800 years ago, it is one of the endangered archaeological sites in the world. Experience its ancient architectural charm.

After the Dhankar visit, leave for Pin Valley. En route, visit Key Monastery at Kibber and Comic Village.

Proceed to Ki Monastery, located on top of a mountain overlooking Spiti Valley and a vast riverbed. It serves as a major learning centre for Lamas of the Geluk sect and houses around 100 monks.
Climb a little further to visit Kibber Village, which was once the highest motorable village in the world.
After the Dhankar visit, leave for Pin Valley. En route, visit Key Monastery at Kibber and Comic Village.

Visit Komik, the highest village in Asia situated at 4,513 meters. This remote farming village has a population of 84 people.
Drive to Hikkim and visit the world’s highest post office. If possible, interact with the postmaster and hear his stories.
Proceed to Langza (4,400 meters), home to 137 people in 33 households. Walk around the village and visit the ancient Lang (Temple), estimated to be around 1000 years old. This centuries-old gompa, once used as a fort, contains valuable thangkas and offers panoramic views.
Also visit the small gompa at Kibber, located 9 km ahead at an altitude of 4,205 meters. Kibber is the highest permanently inhabited village in the region.

Drive to one of the most photogenic places in Spiti Valley — Chandratal Lake. En route, pass through the high-altitude Kunzum La Pass (15,000 ft), which connects Kullu and Lahaul to Spiti Valley. Stop at the stupa and pay tribute to the local deity, Kuzum Mata.
Continue to Chandratal Lake, located at 4,300 meters above sea level. Named after its crescent shape — Chandra (Moon) and Tal (Lake) — the lake changes colours from crystal blue to emerald green by dusk.

After an early breakfast by 6:30 a.m., check out from the hotel and drive to Keylong via Kunzum La Pass (4,590 meters), the highest pass on the Spiti–Lahaul road. Rudyard Kipling once remarked of this region: “Surely the Gods live here, this no place for Men.”
Stop at the tiny hamlet of Chattru for refreshments during the journey.
On arrival in Keylong, check in to your hotel. Explore the town, which serves as the administrative and commercial hub of the region. Surrounded by barren landscapes and green valley floors with fields of barley, potato, and hops, Keylong is often likened to a “barbaric jewel – a roughly cut emerald in a bronze and silver setting.”

After breakfast, visit Gondla (3,110 meters / 18 km), situated on the right bank of River Chandra, known for its ancient fort.
After an early lunch, proceed to Trilokinath (2,660 meters / 57 km), famous for the Trilokinath Temple, sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists.
On the return journey, visit Udaipur (2,523 meters / 53 km), located in Upper Lahaul in the Pattan Valley. Udaipur is home to the Mrikula Devi Temple, renowned for its intricate wood carvings. Formerly known as Margul, the village was renamed during the reign of Raja Udai Singh of Chamba (1690–1728 AD).
Return to Keylong. Enjoy free time for shopping—Keylong is famous for shawls, local tweeds, caps, rugs, footwear, natural olive & almond oil, silver jewelry, pullovers, woollen jackets, metal craft, bamboo products, and fresh fruits.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Manali via Rohtang Pass. Carry warm clothes like hand gloves, muffler, sweater, shawl, socks, and sports shoes. En route, overcoats and shoes are available on hire. Please note that Rohtang Pass starts at Manali.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and leave for Chandigarh. On the way, visit Kullu (or Kulu), the capital town of the Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh. Located on the banks of the Beas River, Kullu Valley is a broad open valley formed by the Beas River between Manali and Largi.
After your visit, you will be dropped off at the Chandigarh airport or railway station.
